Background
A giant in the retail industry was ready to establish a comprehensive intranet-based marketing portal. The portal would house all key internal and external trend insights, information, news, strategies, and company points-of-view on consumer trends. With St. Charles Consulting Group’s expertise in knowledge management and process methodology, we were tapped to make it all happen.

Our Approach
We designed, developed, and deployed the portal with capabilities required by the client. We delivered complete, end-to-end knowledge management development processes in the areas of needs assessment, user experience design, content development and authoring processes, deployment, support operations, and change enablement.

In addition, we designed the critical common processes and supporting knowledge management capability for the entire international sourcing organization of the retailer. This included developing and simplifying global sourcing, production management and vendor management processes, linking to new sourcing roles and responsibilities, creating new templates and tools, developing training on the new processes, and ensuring operational linkages to key supporting content.

Finally, we consulted with, and coached, senior Black Belts of the firm’s Six Sigma team on the design, development, training and coaching for a comprehensive process architecture methodology. Through coaching, we helped the Six Sigma teams and company project teams analyze, improve, and create knowledge management systems for multiple improvement projects.

This client was able to leverage a state-of-the-art capability providing their global team with the tools needed to realize their strategies. Processes that are core to their business have been simplified and applied consistently across the organization. The result is a more efficient workforce and a significant edge over the competition.
