Achieving Balance and Enhancing Self




Achieving Balance and Enhancing Self is a one-day course in which participants develop strategies for balancing the different areas of life. As a result of this training, employees will experience improved attitudes, making them more satisfied in their jobs.

The course is designed to be a workshop. The topic is highly interactive, containing reading and activities along with lectures and discussions. This approach enables participants to think about and apply the concepts presented. They will leave the course with Action Plans that they could use and apply to their own life.



Upon the completion of the Achieving and Enhancing Self course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify seven arenas of life.
  • Determine current and ideal levels of balance in their lives.
  • Use tools to develop goal-oriented strategies for maintaining balance and managing self.



The course is designed for participants at all levels who are interested in improving and learning from the skills developed in this course.


Active Listening




Active Listening is a half-day course offering participants a variety of techniques that they can use to improve their ability to listen.


Upon the completion of the Active Listening course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the key elements of active listening.
  • Understand the when and how to apply active listening techniques.
  • Learn how to employ strategies so others hear what you say.



The course is designed for participants at all levels.


Business Acumen




The purpose of the Business Acumen half-day course is to enhance managers’ abilities to identify key business indicators, accurately interpret and analyze business and financial reports, and use this information to establish successful business results. Ultimately, enhancing these skills will better enable managers to drive results and formulate a business strategy.


Upon the completion of the Business Acumen course, participants will be able to:

  • Define key business terms.
  • Interpret business reports.
  • Edit their own writing efficiently and effectively.
  • Draw accurate conclusions from financial and quantitative information.
  • Establish successful business strategies.
  • Link business and financial information to business strategies.
  • Define advantages of long-range planning.
  • Track industry trends and issues.



If participants have experience with reports, payroll management, and writing business plans, that would be a plus, but it is NOT mandatory.


Coaching and Development




Coaching and Developing is a one-and-a-half day intensive workshop on coaching and developing high-performing people. This is a highly interactive course that focuses on improving the participants’ skill as coaches. In this course, coaching is the process by which an individual creates an environment that enables others to accomplish their goals and objectives more effectively, efficiently, and flexibility. The course focuses on maximizing the personal relevance of coaching by using coaching, feedback, self-assessment and real-life coaching situations to apply the key learning points.


Upon the completion of the Coaching and Development course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the need for outstanding on-the-job coaching.
  • Identify their own coaching strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Develop positive, open, and trusting relationships with their co-workers.
  • Diagnose the learning needs of individuals and develop coaching plans.
  • Effectively coach job-specific, functional (i.e., problem solving) and adaptive (i.e., coping) skills
  • Conduct team and one-on-one reflection sessions.



The course is designed for participants with some experience as managers. The participants should have had the chance to direct a project or provide feedback and/or coaching prior to attending this course. This may be opened up to participants of higher levels though it is recommended to group employees of similar level together for optimum learning and comfort in sharing experiences in the workshop.


Communicating Across Cultures




Communicating Across Cultures is a highly interactive half-day workshop that provides participants with a framework and the tools to improve their cross-cultural conversations. Although specific cultures are used to exemplify a point, the goal is to provide participants with a framework so that they can effectively interact with people from any culture.


Upon the completion of the Communicating Across Cultures course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize differences in communication styles (verbal and nonverbal).
  • Reflect on the meaning behind the words and gestures.
  • Identify ways to adapt that will make the communication more effective.
  • Become more comfortable and, thus, more willing to participate in cross-cultural situations.



This course is designed for participants who have or will have cross-cultural interactions in their job.


Conflict Management




Conflict Management is a 2-hour module that helps prepare and teach participants how to better manage conflict. As a result of this training, participants will cope with on and off the job conflicts better by following an action plan for dealing with the conflicts they face.


Upon the completion of the Conflict Management course, participants will be able to:

  • Give a working definition of conflict.
  • Describe the sources and effects of conflict.
  • Analyze individual stress levels to determine if stress level is too high.
  • Employ several techniques for reducing stress levels.
  • Complete an action plan for improving conflict management.



This course is designed for entry-level professionals and mid-level managers.


Consulting Skills




Consulting Skills is a 2-day course in which participants learn a set of core consulting principles, the Model of Consulting (showing the relationship between knowing, doing and being as consultants, specific language to increase their effectiveness as consultants) roles consultants play, and the basics of emotional intelligence.

Participants will be given opportunities to discuss key learning points and best practices, practice new skills, and then reflect on how they will apply what they have learned to their specific clients.



Upon the completion of the Consulting Skills course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the difference between expert, pair-of-hands, and process consulting.
  • Identify the principles of consulting.
  • Apply behaviors and language that demonstrate the principles.
  • Use language that is comfortable for them and appropriate in various consulting situations.
  • Demonstrate the three levels of inquiry at the appropriate times.
  • Diagnose when they are demonstrating consultant problem behaviors and use an appropriate intervention.
  • Recognize client problem behaviors and use an appropriate intervention.
  • Use listening skills to increase their effectiveness as consultants.
  • Have a raised awareness of the importance of emotional intelligence in consulting.



The course is designed for participants who have responsibility interacting with clients, this includes participants with either direct external client interfacing roles or internal support roles in which their clients are other employees of the company.

Internal support participants may not recognize themselves as consultants who serve clients. Therefore, an additional purpose for these audiences is to raise their awareness of being consultants and to help them be more comfortable with that language and what it means for them.



Creative and Innovative Thinking




The Creative and Innovative Thinking course is a two-day guided simulation designed to enhance creativity and develop problem-solving skills. The participants will work through a dynamic process of creative problem solving and solution finding. They will apply a variety of creative thinking tools and techniques to obtain fresh insights and new ideas. They will do this with the facilitators acting as coaches, encouraging new ways of problem solving and meeting the client’s needs at the same time. The participants will prepare a presentation that demonstrates and showcases their creativity and solution finding techniques.


Upon the completion of the Creative and Innovative Thinking course, participants will be able to:

  • Create a “Think Tank” environment that allows participants to practice the skills of creative, innovative thinking.
  • Foster a spirit/mindset of creativity and innovation throughout the organization.
  • Develop skills of creative problem solving and innovative thinking.
  • Build awareness of the factors that stimulate organizational creativity and innovation.



This course is designed for experienced employees and managers.


Decision Making




Decision Making is a half-day course that teaches participants about this very critical, but often overlooked managerial skill. This course introduces the Decision-Making Model that can help to guide managers toward making impactful decisions.


Upon the completion of the Decision Making course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop and select decision-making criteria.
  • Identify alternatives and options.
  • Involve others in decision making.
  • Apply decision-making skills on the job.



The course is designed for new and experienced managers.


Effective Business Writing




Effective Business Writing is a one-day course designed to help employees write clear, concise business documents. The instructional strategy of this course is different from the strategy of other business writing courses. While other courses focus on grammar, organization, and structure, Effective Business Writing is based on Reader Expectation Theory (RET). During the course, participants learn what RET is and how to use Reader Expectations to enhance the clarity and style of their writing.


Upon the completion of the Effective Business Writing course, participants will be able to:

  • Write sentences that have a simple, working structure and vocabulary.
  • Edit their own writing efficiently and effectively.
  • Provide management with documents that require little editing.
  • Organize written material so readers will use their time more effectively.
  • Communicate from the business reader’s perspective.
  • Reduce the cycle time from business document preparation to report distribution.



The course is designed for all levels of participants who want to improve their writing skills.


Effective Supervising: Strategies & Tools




Effective Supervising: Strategies and Tools is a two-day course in which participants learn techniques to supervise effectively including time management, delegation, providing effective feedback, and influencing others. The goal is to teach effective leadership skills that are essential for success for first-time supervisors. This course is designed to be a skill-building workshop. This approach focuses on identifying essential supervisory skills in the business environment and then applying the skills in relevant scenarios. There are skill-building and reflection exercises integrated throughout the course.


Upon the completion of the Effective Supervising: Strategies and Tools course, participants will be able to:

  • Develop effective time management and prioritization techniques.
  • Practice effective delegation techniques that develop and empower others.
  • Apply an effective feedback framework that motivates others toward improvement.
  • Determine strategies to positively influence others to achieve results.



The course is designed for participants who have recently accepted new supervisory responsibilities and have limited prior supervisory experience. This course is most appropriate for positions ranging from entry-level to mid-manager level. If higher level position are attending this course, it is recommended that they be in a session consisting of peers at a similar level for optimal growth and participation.


Emotional Intelligence




Emotional Intelligence is a half-day course which gives participant’s an overview of emotional intelligence, see how it is applied in everyday life, and allow them to plan a way to increase their own emotional intelligence. Emotional intelligence is not intended to be a lecture about emotional intelligence. Activities and discussions have been designed into the workshop to allow participants to actively participate in their own learning and to discover what emotional intelligence is.


Upon the completion of the Emotional Intelligence course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the seven emotional intelligence competencies and related behaviors.
  • Recognize, based on self-assessment, which emotional intelligence competencies are their areas of strength and development.
  • Identify how to increase emotional intelligence and apply this knowledge to develop their own personal action plans.
  • Recognize when and how they are using emotional intelligence in everyday life.



The course is designed for participants of all levels. The audience could be employees from intact teams or a combination of participants from differing teams/departments/and roles. It is best to group participants of similar levels.


Managing through Change




Managing through Change is a one-day course designed to introduce participants to the concepts, process, and strategies for successfully moving through transitions and helping manage those that are experiencing transition as well. The participants are first introduced to concepts of transitions (both work related and personal), and then a series of activities and discussions is used to apply the concepts. The participants will generate a list of transitions they have experienced and a series of action steps for best moving through those changes. This course references the book Managing Transitions (3rd edition) by William Bridges, Ph.D. Each participant should receive a copy of the book (optional but recommended).


Upon the completion of the Managing through Change course, participants will be able to:

  • Differentiate between change and transition.
  • Recognize the William Bridges’ transition model.
  • Develop strategies to address personal transition.
  • Develop strategies to guide other individuals through transition.
  • Enhance skills through experiential group activities.
  • Apply strategies to real life situations.



The course is designed for participants experiencing a transition.


Navigating Change




Navigating Change is a two-hour module designed with the purpose of teaching participants to recognize and welcome change. It highlights what the reasons are for people’s resistance to change and how to gauge our approach to ensure acceptance. It consists of a quick, yet insightful video with discussion, questions, and debrief to make the content more applicable. It is a great addition to a team meeting or an already existing course. This is a highly interactive topic, containing reading and activities along with lectures and discussions. This approach enables participants to think about and apply the concepts presented.


Upon the completion of the Navigating Change course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize change and how it occurs.
  • Identify principles to use in managing change.
  • Develop proactive ways of dealing with resistance to change.
  • Build commitment to change.
  • Identify the role of a change agent.
  • Effectively and positively handle changes in the work environment.



The course is designed for participants who may be averse to change or are soon to be impacted by an organizational change such as a restructuring, position reassignment, or a transfer.


Negotiation: Finding the Win/Win




The Negotiation: Finding the Win/Win course is a two-hour module that is ideal for combining with another training session or for a group that has limited time. The course starts with a pre-read and activity, which is distributed to participants prior to attending the session. Estimated time on the pre-read is 30 minutes. In the course, participants are introduced to the benefits of negotiating, specific negotiating tactics, and a useful tool called the ‘Problem Master’ for action planning. These concepts are then applied to a case study and further practiced within role play scenarios.


Upon the completion of the Negotiation: Finding the Win/Win course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the benefits of negotiating.
  • Demonstrate how to prepare for a negotiation.
  • Use effective negotiating tactics.
  • Practice negotiating skills.



This course is designed for participants from entry to mid-level positions with limited practice negotiating. The negotiating content referenced and skills practiced are not specific to a particular job type.


Performance Excellence




Performance Excellence is a half-day course in which participants learn the meaning of performance management and how it can affect their leadership, team cohesiveness, individual contributions and enrich client service and the work environment. It is designed in a workshop style so that, in learning about communication skills, the participants actually have the opportunity to practice receiving and delivering effective feedback, handling difficult people and conversations, and engaging in performance conversations.


Upon the completion of the Performance Excellence course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the broad framework for performance management.
  • Know why the feedback provider’s role is especially pivotal to the performance management process.
  • See how a coaching model can be applied to stimulating improved performance at the individual and team levels.
  • Build their own communication skills, particularly in dealing with difficult situations.



This course is designed for participants who have some to extensive experience managing projects and individuals. In these roles, they conduct and receive regularly scheduled performance reviews and provide periodic feedback to their fellow project members. Participants are best served when grouped with individuals of similar levels to increase likelihood of active participation.


Power of Influencing




The focus of the one-day Power of Influencing course is to teach the participants a process for using their ability to influence. Participants will practice a variety of techniques to increase their skill and develop their confidence. At the beginning of the course, participants will identify an idea for improving a work process that they are knowledgeable and passionate about. Throughout the course they will work with this idea to create a case and to present the idea to a key decision maker during an informal conversation. A peer coaching relationship will be established in class, so that the participants have support to continue the honing of their influencing skills.


Upon the completion of the Power of Influencing course, participants will be able to:

  • Recognize situations in which one might be able to influence.
  • Recall a sound process for influencing and use tools necessary to apply the influencing process model.
  • Apply the influence model and process in relevant situations.
  • Explain the framework for effective persuasive presentation of an argument with the purpose of influencing.
  • Identify the four communication styles and identify their own.



This course is designed for participants who regularly find themselves in situations in which they are either persuading or influencing others. This course is most appropriate for positions ranging from entry-level to mid-manager level.


Process Visibility




Process Visibility is a half-day course that features a proprietary methodology. In order to deliver on calls for increased cost effectiveness – and the mantra “to do more with less” – managers need a better understanding of how business is run … the basic business process. This course teaches participants how to simplify and make visible key processes through activities, tasks, and supporting resources that are essential for business success.


Upon the completion of the Process Visibility course, participants will be able to:

  • Learn how to use a common process architecture methodology for process analysis, design and improvement.
  • Create a high-level common process framework .
  • Analyze key processes for improvements and plan for implementation of process redesign and process change.



This course is designed for managers who want see their business more clearly and to set the stage for solving problems, innovating, and executing important strategies.

Professional Presence is a half-day course that introduces participants at all levels to key elements that expand their leadership abilities, organizational savvy and power of influence. This course will help develop individual executive presence and leadership style.

  • Develop and enhance their own professional image.
  • Identify typical personal characteristics of those who exhibit high levels of professional presence.

  • Explain the ‘Crucial Conversations Dialogue’ model.
  • Create individual development plans.
  • Define emotional intelligence.



This course is designed for entry and mid- level managers who want to develop thier leadership presence.


Project Management Tools




Project Management: Tools & Techniques is a two-and-a-half day course designed to introduce participants to the concepts, tools and techniques of project management. The course makes use of a case study in which the participants apply the knowledge they are learning. The participants are divided into groups to mimic the project team experience, rotating roles so that each participant experiences the lead role of project manager at least once (often times twice). Groups are required to present their results to the classroom at the conclusion of each activity.

The course references information provided by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and the Project Management Body of Knowledge Guide (PMBOK Guide) and provides a useful Resource Guide and additional templates and job aids for use beyond the course.



Upon the completion of the Project Management: Tools & Techniques course, participants will be able to:

  • Explain the basic concepts of project management consistent with industry standards.
  • Use the Project Management Framework and Tools.
  • Build, execute, and control a Project Plan.
  • Explain how MS Project and WBC ChartPro can enable a project manager’s work.



This course is designed for participants of all levels of project management experience. It is recommended that sessions be scheduled with participants of similar levels of experience.


Stress Management




Stress Management is a 90-minute module in which participants learn how to better manage stress. As a result of this training, employees will cope with on and off the job stress better by following an action plan for dealing with the stress they face. This course is designed to be a workshop. The topic is highly interactive, containing reading and activities along with lectures and discussions. This approach enables participants to think about and apply the concepts presented. They will leave the module with concrete skills and techniques that they can use and apply to their own life.


Upon the completion of the Stress Management module, participants will be able to:

  • Give a working definition of stress.
  • Describe the sources and effects of stress.
  • Analyze individual stress levels to determine if stress level is too high.
  • Employ several techniques for reducing stress levels.

Surviving Workplace Change




Surviving Workplace Change is a one-day course designed to educate employees on how to cope with dynamic change occurring within organizations. Participants will work through activities and role-plays in order to come to understand their reactions to change and its personal impacts.


Upon the completion of the Surviving Workplace Change course, participants will be able to:

  • Examine the personal side of organizational change.
  • Identify why change is continuous in our lives today.
  • Identify the natural process people go through in dealing with change .
  • Develop techniques to help you personally deal with change.
  • Identify different ways that communication can be used to help you move through change more easily.



This course is designed for participants at any level who are faced with significant ongoing or impending change.


Teaming for Results




Teaming for Results is a two-day intensive workshop on team development skills. This course develops the participants’ ability to assess team effectiveness and to make modifications to personal behavior to be a better team member. The Myers-Briggs Indicator (MBTI) is used as a tool to identify participants’ personality types and how that contributes to team dynamics.

The instructional approach used in Teaming for Results is Model Centered Instruction. This format is facilitator/participant and discussion/activity-based. The learning experiences that participants will have in Teaming for Results will use the same methodology and technology employed in actual business environments. Participants will be given opportunities to discuss key learning points and best practices, and then reflect on how they will apply what they have learned to their specific clients.



Upon the completion of the Teaming for Results course, participants will:

  • Learn about a framework for developing a team that highlights a collaborative approach to decision-making and problem solving.
  • Describe the application of virtual and non-virtual teams.
  • Apply tools and techniques of the ‘Goals, Roles, Process, and People Model ‘of team development.
  • Match strategies to remove or minimize barriers to team effectiveness.



This course is designed for participants who have responsibility for participating, leading, and/or managing teams.


Time Management




Time Management is a half-day course that helps participants better manage their time. This course is designed, not as a quick review of time management, but as a program with a personal action plan to make real changes in their work life so they can:

  • Get their jobs done with greater ease and effectiveness and less stress!
  • Pursue additional career goals.
  • Replace bad habits with good ones and identify your top time wasters and correct them
  • Have more, not less, freedom.



Upon the completion of the Time Management course, participants will be able to:
