AI Workforce Readiness: StC and NIIT Benchmark Featured in HRO Today

Organizations are moving quickly to make AI part of how work gets done, but new technology alone does not guarantee better performance. In its coverage of the 2026 Global Learning Transformation Benchmark Survey, HRO Today examines the widening distance between executive priorities and the systems employees need to build relevant capabilities and put AI to work effectively.

The article highlights that 53% of surveyed senior leaders identified embedding AI-enabled tools into company workflows as a top priority for the next 12 to 24 months. Leaders are also prioritizing the evolution of learning and development strategies, skills-based talent strategies, and closer integration between learning and broader HR and talent systems. Yet the benchmark finds that the largest execution gaps are concentrated in these same strategically important areas.

For leaders focused on AI workforce readiness, the implication is clear: ambition must be supported by infrastructure. Organizations need systems that connect skills, learning, and performance, along with a realistic understanding of what they can implement and scale. Without that foundation, AI may accelerate activity while leaving the underlying capability gaps unresolved.

Larry Durham describes the challenge as one of infrastructure rather than intent. Jonathan Eighteen adds that speed will not create an advantage unless organizations also rethink how capability is structured, governed, and demonstrated. Together, their perspectives point to a practical leadership agenda: align technology decisions with workforce development and build the connective systems required for sustainable growth.

“The gap is not intent, but infrastructure.” — Larry Durham, President, St. Charles Consulting Group
